Justin Trudeau (born December 25, 1971) is the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada and is the proud father of Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien.

His vision of Canada is a country where everyone has an equal and real chance to succeed. His experiences as a teacher, father, leader, and youth activist are the foundation of his dedication to Canadians – and his commitment to making Canada a place where everyone can benefit from the opportunities that allow them to thrive.

The eldest of three boys, Justin grew up under the profound influence of his father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, and his mother, Margaret Trudeau. He was raised in both French and English, his family having roots in Eastern and Western Canada. His background helped shape his passion for public service and his belief that Canada's strength is its diversity.

Justin studied literature at McGill University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 1994. He then completed the teaching program at the University of British Columbia and spent several years teaching French, mathematics, and other subjects in Vancouver. His work as a teacher has allowed him to positively affect young people's lives. Even today, he is determined to make their voices resonate, from the classroom to Parliament Hill.

Before entering politics, Justin was president of the board of directors of Katimavik. He also served on the board of directors of the Canadian Avalanche Foundation, was a youth advocate, and advocated for environmental protection. By speaking at activities and conferences across Canada, he encouraged young people to get involved in causes that matter to them and to become active citizens in their communities. These experiences made it clear to him that the issues that concern young Canadians – education, the environment, and the economic prospects of their generation – needed to be expressed in a louder voice.

Justin entered politics to make a difference for the benefit of all Canadians. In 2007, he led a local campaign rooted in his community with the aim of winning the Liberal Party nomination in the riding of Papineau, in Montreal. He was elected in 2008, then re-elected in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2021.

Justin was elected leader of the Liberal Party in April 2013. His leadership campaign aimed to create a new movement of progressive Canadians nationwide, and it inspired hundreds of thousands of Canadians to get involved in politics , most for the very first time. Justin worked closely with his team to develop a plan to create jobs, grow the economy, protect the environment and strengthen the middle class. Under his leadership, the Liberal platform focused on creating equal economic opportunities for all, respecting and promoting freedom and diversity, and creating a more democratic government that represents the most faithfully Canadians.

On October 19, 2015, Justin led his party to victory by forming a majority government, with seats in every province and territory in the country. He was sworn in on November 4, 2015. On October 21, 2019, Justin and the Liberal Party were re-elected, securing a second mandate from Canadians. They were re-elected again on September 20, 2021, securing a third mandate from Canadians.

As Prime Minister, Justin leads a government that works hard every day to keep Canada moving forward. His team is determined to create good middle-class jobs, make life more affordable, protect Canadian communities, fight climate change and advance reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Proud to be a feminist, Justin formed, for the first time in Canadian history, a Council of Ministers with parity between women and men.
