The Saguenay River Fjord is the ideal place to get a taste for kayaking. Fjord en Kayak can initiate you with a three hour tour; the launch is at the picturesque village of L'Anse-Saint-Jean situated at the Eastern end of the Saguenay River. You will paddle around Islet Saint-Jean, a nesting area for spotted sandpipers nesting area, before heading to the fjord itself. There the water runs between high rock walls, carved during the last ice age and topped with pine trees. The three hour trip might not be enough, but thankfully there are also one day trips as well as multi day excursions.
